A Word for March
on the VINCETIAN CHARISM
As we continue to travel through this special 400th Anniversary year we pause in March to look at how the charism is lived through the eyes of the Daughters of Charity. Every year on the Feast of the Annunciation, Daughters of Charity all over the world renew their Vows.
The process to renew our vows starts on the 8th December, the Feast of the Immaculate Conception. This is the time when we ask permission to renew our vows. On the Feast of the Presentation, February 2nd, the Superioress General seeks permission from the Father General for all the Daughters of Charity worldwide to renew their vows on the Feast of the Annunciation.
Many people say, “You renew your vows annually! Does that mean after the year you are free?” In essence…yes….but when we respond to God’s call to give ourselves as Daughters of Charity the intention of our heart is a life-long commitment to serve Christ in those He sends us to.
Having the opportunity every year to stop and reflect on how God has led me and to ask Him to take me as I am and use me again and again, is a wonderful gift.
I can’t imagine not taking the time to look back with gratitude at al God has done, and to look forward in hope as with joy each Daughter of Charity is invited to echo Mary’s ‘Yes’ every year on her special feast……the Annunciation!
