Au revoir Bransholme

Leaving BransholmeSisters Irene Sweeney, Margaret Twomey and Marie Raw moved into 36 Cosford Garth, Bransholme, Hull on Maundy Thursday, April 1993 following in the footsteps of Sr Margaret Colbert who had been the Parish Sister at St Mary Queen of Martyrs. After fourteen years of service to the people of the area, the Sisters are moving house in July to another part of the city of Hull.

On 12th June they held a farewell Mass in the garden of their home celebrated by Fr John Bane, Parish Priest, and Fr Fergus Kelly CM, Provincial Director. Many parishioners, friends and neighbours of the Sisters came along for the Mass and buffet. It was a time for thanks, a time for remembering and a time tinged with the sadness of closure and uprooting.

It isn't "Goodbye", however, more of an "Au revoir" as the Daughters of Charity will be moving in to the presbytery of St Wilfrid's RC parish, West Hull to work with local priests and people as part of a new Mission and Evangelisation Team and it is hoped that links with Bransholme will be maintained.
