A double blessing for the Province

On Saturday, 30th August 2008 Daughters of Charity travelled from the North, South, East and West of Great Britain to gather in the Sacred Heart Parish, Mill Hill, London for a special Province Mass concelebrated by Fr Fergus Kelly CM, Provincial Director and Fr Hugh McMahon CM. After the readings and homily Sisters Ellen Flynn, Mai O'Connor, Anne Redmond and Maria Robb were "sworn in" by Sr Margaret Barrett DC, Assistant General, as members of the Council of the British Province. As part of the Province leadership team, their role is to support the new Provincial, Sr Marie Raw DC, in encouraging and enabling the Sisters of the Province to be faithful to their vocation to serve vulnerable people in Britain today.

After Mass the Sisters made the 15 minute journey by coach to their new Provincial House for lunch. It was a beautiful summer's day and all were accommodated in various downstairs rooms and a temporary outside marquee for the celebratory meal. Afterwards the Sisters accompanied Fr Fergus through the house and grounds for the blessing of their new Provincial House.
