Sister Anne's Silver Jubilee

It was truly a 'family gathering' in every sense of the word, when Sister Anne Redmond DC celebrated the twentymass-fifth anniversary of her life as a Daughter of Charity.  On 21st June, in the Provincial House, Mill Hill, Anne was surrounded by her parents (who had travelled from Ireland for the occasion), together with numerous friends  and members of her own family, and many Daughters of Charity, her 'adoptive family'.

The highlight of the day was the Eucharist celebrated by Fr Fergus Kelly CM in which everyone took place wholeheartedly and joyously.  A small group of our community musicians led the singing during the liturgy, while Anne herself sang the responsorial psalm and accompanied herself on the guitar - a truly inspirational prayer which touched the hearts of all.

familyAfter the Mass, there was the customary meal which all enjoyed to the full. As the whole day was devoted to the celebration, there was plenty of leisure after the meal for chatting with friends and exchanging anecdotes and stories.  No gathering of this kind is complete without a sing-song, so the celebration closed with just that, and everyone present joined in singing some of the old well-known songs, along with some of the songs of the 'Sixties which were known to the younger members of the group.  Even some of the youngest guest, Anne's nieces, did their 'item' with a mixture of shy smiles and pride in their  achievement. It looks as if future generations of Redmonds, like those of today, "shall have music wherever they go"!

Congratulations, Anne.  We look forward to the celebration of your Golden Jubilee in the year 2033!
