Celebrating VE 75th Anniversary
The Daughters of Charity remember
Sister Ellen Flynn, Provincial of the Daughters of Charity living in Australia and Britain, ( who belong to the recently formed Rosalie Rendu Province), writes: "I am writing early on the morning of VE day. The sun is shining, it’s a beautiful day and a flag is flying over the front door the Provincial House, Mill Hill, London, marking an anniversary 75 years ago which ended a crisis of a very different sort from the virus crisis which continues to grip the world today. This weekend will see one crisis being remembered by the Queen and the other being addressed by the Prime Minister in the UK. In Australia, VE day celebrations were tinged by the war still being fought in the Far East and the Pacific. Many Australians, British and other allies were serving there. In prayer we all draw our own conclusions about our history and our present, but we can rejoice in the goodness and kindness we are now witnessing as a result of our current situation.
